Hi everyone,
I just performed a major upgrade on most of my PC, leaving the GPU behind. This was my first time doing a self-upgrade, and I thought everything would work out smoothly until it didn’t.

I upgraded the following components:
- Motherboard (to support the new CPU)
- CPU (from Intel Core i7 to Core i9)
- New fan
- RAM (DDR4 to DDR5)
- Power supply (to handle the new parts’ needs)

Additionally, I moved to Windows 11 from 10, hoping it would resolve a registry problem caused by the new motherboard.

After booting up, I noticed most of my games would crash after playing for about 5 to 10 minutes.

I’ve tried several fixes so far:
- Resetting BIOS to defaults
- Updating BIOS
- Formatting all three drives
- Deleting graphics drivers via Display driver uninstaller and re-downloading them
- Checked the reliability monitor – only a few crashes appeared. The three games I reinstalled after formatting are Escape from Tarkov, Squad, and TF2.
- Tarkov doesn’t crash as often
- Squad (Unity) behaves similarly to Tarkov but crashes more frequently, usually with shader or shadow errors. I lowered graphics settings, but the issue persists with a different error.
- TF2 keeps failing due to a DLL named nvd3dum.dll

I also double-checked my wiring connections, and everything seems to be working fine.

Occasionally, Discord would crash twice or three times before stabilizing, as did my browser (Opera GX).

I’ve searched thoroughly, but none of the solutions helped. Any advice or assistance would be really appreciated.

The crashes I experience in TF2 through the event viewer indicate the problem lies with nvd3dum.dll. I still haven’t discovered a solution. It seems my graphics card might be the cause, though I can’t confirm because I don’t have another one and my CPU lacks built-in graphics.

Your PSU appears to be a solid choice, making it improbable that this is the issue. Kindly wait for more updates.
