You're experiencing an unexpected Notepad behavior on Windows 11, where it opens randomly and asks for a file. This could be due to background processes or system changes. No specific action has been taken, so checking system logs or disabling startup programs might help.

It looks like you detected some malicious software. Perform comprehensive scans and think about a system reset.

I believe malware is a possibility. It’s likely you encountered a file that modified the registry to run itself periodically. Your antivirus flagged it as harmful and removed it, yet the registry entry persisted, causing the system to attempt launching a file that no longer exists. Cleaning the registry might fix the auto-execution, but I suggest a complete reset and reinstallation. You might have missed other malicious activity that slipped through. Good luck!

Thank you for your feedback. The file format can vary between releases, and sometimes it displays an error message. I’m not sure if this impacts the diagnosis. Would it help to begin with a scan using built-in Windows antivirus, or would you prefer an alternative solution? Also, could you clarify how to properly restore or clean the registry entries?

Consider using Malwarebytes at the moment. Removing registry items is similar to erasing certain entries. Mistakes here can damage your operating system.
