Apple Magic Mouse 2 issues during setup Bootcamp problems with Apple Magic Mouse 2
Recently set up Windows 10 in Bootcamp on my MacBook Pro Touch Bar 2017. The setup proceeded without issues and all internal drivers were installed properly. It also automatically recognized the Apple Mouse via Bluetooth. After a short time, although the settings indicated the mouse was connected, there was no response—no cursor movement appeared. Here’s what I tried to fix: 1) Restarted the device, 2) Deleted and reinserted the mouse in Bluetooth settings, 3) Reinstalled Windows 10 through Bootcamp, 4) Removed the mouse from iOS Bluetooth and tested again in Windows. I also updated the OS with the latest patches. All these steps were performed on an activated Windows 10 Pro 64-bit copy. I haven’t tried a 32-bit version yet. Observations: After removing and re-adding the mouse in Bootcamp, it functioned briefly (about 30 seconds) before cursor activity stopped. In iOS settings, there were no reliability problems, which suggests the hardware wasn’t the cause. Some users reported success by reinstalling Magic Mouse drivers in the OS, but that didn’t help me. Anyone else experiencing this issue or have further troubleshooting ideas?
Navigate to the Start menu, select Device Manager, expand Bluetooth, and observe the displayed items.
Reinstalled Windows 10 multiple times (it runs very well on these SSDs) but the issue persisted. Additional notes before and during the installation, driver packages for my Logitech keyboard and Apple Mouse auto-installed and stayed working for a short time after the process ends. Observed that the Bluetooth keyboard is also affected similarly. All Bluetooth devices remain stable until the bootcamp completes. This suggests a problem with the Bluetooth driver on Apple devices not being properly tested by MacBook Pro touch laptops. I used to have a 12-inch MacBook and it worked fine during bootcamp. Grrrrr
I resolved the Bluetooth mouse problem on Windows 10 Bootcamp by February 2021 using the newest Mac OS big Sur update. Here’s what I did:
1. Updated MacOS and followed the instructions to install Windows Support Software via the Apple support page.
2. Updated Windows through Settings, Device Manager, and ensured bluetooth drivers were current.
3. When issues persisted, I checked the Device Manager for Bluetooth devices and disabled the power management option in each device settings.
4. I explored every entry in Windows Device Manager, turning off the power management toggle for each device.
5. After restarting, I powered off Bluetooth completely and then re-enabled it. The Logitech G604 mice paired successfully afterward.
6. Later, I considered using the Logitech unifying receiver, but realized it likely wouldn’t help since my Apple mice didn’t work in Windows Bootcamp.
7. I also looked into enabling Bluetooth Collaboration on the Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter settings, though further details were limited.
