They put in new APs with Wi-Fi but the Ethernet stayed dead. Recently they swapped one out, and it’s still not working. The device is a Cisco AirAP 1815W-B-K9. When connected to the Cat 5 from the wall, it lights up green. Plugging something into LAN1 triggers a green flash four times, then red/amber/red, then continuous red. That red signal means there’s a file system problem. What should I explain to my tech-poor building?

They likely turned off the Ethernet connections. Have you reached out to their IT department for assistance?

They claimed it was active, but the installers had no real understanding of tech. It seems they were simply connecting them and leaving it alone.

They’ve assisted in linking your device to the Ethernet and getting it up and running. With managed systems, you’re largely reliant on their support. If they’re unresponsive, consider negotiating a reduced rate on the rental or something comparable until the issue is resolved.

It might be better to begin with a simple apartment networking approach.

I don't have information on that specific error code. Could you provide more details or context?

The Wi-Fi performance is really poor, with lots of unexpected drops even before the AP was set up.

Are you certain about the right error code? The device logs provide far more helpful information than what you're seeing.

I skipped the guide and don’t have enough knowledge about network setup to figure out what’s causing the flash file system error.
