From the name, my setup includes an Aorus X570 Elite with Ryzen 7 3600MHz and Corsair RAM CMK32GX4M2B3200C16…4 modules, totaling 64GB. XMP is active, settings match the specs, it runs at 1.35V. After each cold boot, BIOS resets to nearly every restart. When Windows 11 launches, I open ZenTimer and notice RAM clocks at 2133 instead of 3200. Every restart forces a BIOS reset and parameter load. P.S. I’ve replaced the battery twice already. I’ve saved lots of screenshots after BIOS self-reset, but after a fresh reboot and reconfiguration, the issue disappears.

Shutting down your computer means you're powering it off or unplugging it. If your CMOS battery fails and you disconnect the system or shut down the PSU, your BIOS settings will be lost. Replace the CMOS battery to resolve the issue. Also verify the Clear CMOS jumper isn't forming a circuit—find the two small pins on the bottom right of the board above the front panel connectors. If they're in contact or the jumper is faulty, it will reset your settings.

Here are some alternative ways to phrase your thoughts:

- I’ve turned off automatic updates to avoid any unintended changes to Windows 11, as Microsoft keeps pushing me to fix things. So far, it’s been a mess, and I’m not interested in getting involved. No sarcasm here—Microsoft hasn’t gotten anything right even once since the early 2000s.

- The RAM model CMK32GX4M2B3200C16 appears in the QVL, but just because it fits that kit doesn’t guarantee it will work well with two units. Have you tried testing them separately or using a larger capacity like 32GB instead of 64GB? Also, could they be single-rank or dual-rank? Some configurations don’t handle dual-rank well, so mixing might not be ideal.

- One of the modules might be faulty. I’d recommend checking them one at a time. To give you more insight, I spent months troubleshooting, disassembling parts, and dealing with POST errors before returning the board for replacement. It turned out the DIMMs were causing problems in another machine even though they passed tests. The QVL listed the RAM as working on that machine, but my board got a different result. Neither unit had the SKU I found in QVL. Another kit I used resolved the issue, while mine was sent back with a “could not duplicate” message and moved to a new case. That took time and cost me a lot.

In both situations it's really annoying. It doesn't happen often, but it does quite frequently. For example, last week for four days straight everything functioned properly. I thought I had identified the cause. Then things began to act up. Checked, everything is fine There are 4 modules with 16GB each. All modules are the same. I created the model to ensure you receive the correct one (since there are many similar ones). I ran several memory tests and never encountered a fault or error. My mind is confused because I can't find a solution—I swapped the bank positions and tried again, but it still doesn't work.

I've encountered kits of identical RAM released a couple of years apart, all matching the same model—one single-rank, one dual-rank. It turns out manufacturers sometimes ship either configuration for more units than just the faulty type. People kept reassuring me it was just RAM and didn't suspect anything, which made me doubt my own judgment.

I haven't fully endorsed Crucial for Ryzen anymore, since their page confirmed my board worked initially. My issue began after roughly two weeks and continued for several months. The RAM might have been okay at startup but failed later on. Updated August 30, 2022 by An0maly_76 Added more details

I believe you meant to reference Corsair because of the crucial aspect I have; I only have the SSDs, not the main one. This is Sabrent.

Actually, I was thinking about Crucial, specifically Ballistix, regarding a problem I faced. It’s a lengthy tale, but to keep it brief: In 2018, a car accident left me unemployed for four months, and both my computer and laptop failed within weeks of each other. My family gave me a prebuilt rig with a 1700 Ryzen and a GT1030 as a Christmas gift to help ease the end of the year. Sure enough, by 2020 I wanted to upgrade the graphics, RAM, and storage. My sister suggested Crucial Ballistix, trusting their ratings, so I purchased two 2x16 BL16G32C16U4B.16FE units, an SN570 M.2, and a GTX1650S with 4GB of RAM. The board initially refused the 1650S but worked with the original GT1030, then crashed and required an RMA. After that experience, the system felt extremely unstable. Recently, two different versions of that BL16G32C16U4B.16FE Ballistix have caused problems on three boards, with two already fixed. The 1700 model is now in my hands—I’m hopeful it will be resolved soon based on the QVL list. Interestingly, despite Crucial’s claims, these parts aren’t compatible with any of the AMD boards I’ve used, and another user says they were meant for a Coffee Lake build. So apparently, I once thought Ballistix was the go-to for Ryzen, which turned out to be false. Well, we learn from experience. Better late than never. Previously, I spent months dealing with frustration and random crashes, almost losing a $2600 investment just to get it fixed. It nearly sank me into an in-ground pool several times. I don’t demand much, but machines need to function properly. I’m used to handling heavy equipment, not broken gadgets. The parking lot at the Love’s Travel Center in Valliant, OK, still holds bits of my old Samsung Galaxy S3 from a collision with a truck—something that happened after the 6,500 lbs impact. It didn’t last long. Productive? No. Constructive? No. But it did give me something to feel better. Afterward, I realized I’m autistic, which helps explain why I react this way. I’m not inherently violent, but everyone has limits, and I can’t tolerate machines that keep failing. They’re about to leave, so here we go.

I'm working on it now alone. Earlier checks (15 hours) showed no problems. Now it looks like at Bank 4 three units are fine, nothing needs resetting. The 4HT model gave three short beeps after cold boot. BIOS reset and recognized as 2133 but it's actually 3200—probably starting to fail. I'm puzzled because no test seems to say "memory issue." Right now I'm inserting one by one. At this point I'm putting in the third module and leaving the fourth out... hoping to see what happens in the coming hours.
