Not found in the tier list. Planning to install a budget CPU. Intended for a secondary mini-ITX PC built for casual use.

I'm facing some challenges honestly. I'm assembling a PC using parts left over for the kids. I have a Gigabyte P750GM PSU, a 120GB Sandisk SSD, a 2TB 3.5" HDD, two 8TB Corsair Vengeance LED drives, an ASUS RX 570 graphics card with 4GB RAM, a Thermaltake Versa H15 CPU, and an i3-10100 with an ASRock B460M-ITX/AC. I'm on a budget, around $115 for the CPU and $95 for the motherboard. I'd rather stick with the i3 setup, but there aren't many good CPU choices available right now. Most options are outdated and costly. With Intel, the i3 is affordable, whereas Ryzen parts are pricier and hard to find. If a 3100 CPU existed, I'd want it. But currently, availability is limited and I can't afford to buy from resellers. I'm considering spending about $140 more on a Ryzen 5 3600/B550 or sticking with the current i3 build. Ideally, I'd upgrade my 8700k to a Zen 3 chip, but that's not practical due to stock shortages and high prices. I'm keeping the $260 I spent today and holding onto my 8700k for a while instead of splurging on a Zen 3.

I'm stuck on this choice. I picked the Ryzen 5 3600 for around $165 on eBay, paired with an ASRock B450m Pro4. I considered Intel but thought the Ryzen would last longer. The board was cheap at $65. My goal was a Ryzen 5 5600, but I mostly wanted light gaming—just enough for an i3. I almost chose the i3 too, but I’m hooked on how many threads it can handle. This one’s a tough call; I’d say Intel if I needed more power for that 570.

1080p/60hz gaming setup with an RX 570. It won’t last forever, but I believe the i3 can handle it even with a newer GPU later. Connected to a 4K TV at 1080p, mostly playing light Steam titles, but room for future upgrades. Frustrated with leftover components and regretful about not purchasing cheaper Ryzen or Intel parts during sales. Notable items include a $259,970k, $279,3700x, $159,3600, and $85,1600 AF. These parts are really getting my frustration going.

We’ve definitely been going through the same ups and downs lately, honestly. LOL. Originally planning a R9 Fury X from the parts pile, I ended up getting an RTX 2060 instead—probably due to GPU prices—and it’s now set up with a 4K TV, though I can downscale to 1080p. All the things you mentioned are true.

EDIT - I’m okay with the i3 choice, but almost gave up before the fanboi in me stepped in.
