Just discovered this game on sale. Wow, already spent nearly 10 hours playing. First run took 12 days. Then things started getting tough—people keep leaving or dying. Second run lasted 17 days too. It’s the same pattern: dying in fights or hunger, or just walking away. I’m now on my third attempt. I saw someone on YouTube suggesting these tips: grab a crowbar and shovel, loot everything on day one, reinforce your base, collect as much wood as possible when traders come, feed them when they’re hungry, and send them to bed when they’re exhausted. Use a knife instead of a gun? Anyone with experience here?

Set up numerous traps—though they might not be the most efficient method, they’re definitely worth trying. Additionally, establish a few distilleries. Liquor holds significant value, making a reliable alcohol source crucial during shortages.

Another concern though, some say it's really hard to survive without people around. When does winter arrive? Does this game offer any clues or hints? I only notice the temperature is around 17°C. When should I begin crafting weapons and armor? I'm on day 18.

Winter typically arrives around day 25, though timing varies between playthroughs. You might even choose to begin in winter conditions. To protect yourself from illness and death during colder periods, constructing a furnace is essential. The timing for building weapons depends on your preferred playstyle. In my experience, I've seldom relied on guns in any of my sessions; instead, I've favored knives, as most battles can be handled with just a blade. Often, you'll find a weapon on someone else and use it as a fallback option along with a few rounds.

The location of the heater isn't crucial.
