Hello everyone, I rely on Microsoft Security Essentials for virus scanning. I’m frustrated by the scan times—like 1 hour on a 250GB SSD and 1TB HDD. What methods do you use? Do you face similar scanning issues? greetz

I rely on Malwarebytes for detection and Defender for system protection. Antivirus is for those unsure of their actions (and fall for the trap).

I own a free copy of AVG and a complete premium version of MalwareBytes. It’s possible someone shared a lifetime key for MalwareBytes.

Avast and malwarebytes.org perform similarly in my view. They offer comparable speeds.

Thanks! I'm still getting familiar with this place, so I wasn't sure I could do it. ;p Appreciate all the responses—I'm checking if I can afford a paid virus scanner to try.

Currently I think antispywares are more effective than any antivirus. You need many of them since I can't always get everything from just malwarebytes. Being cautious is the safest approach right now. I still use Microsoft security essentials... because that’s what I do.

Hello! MalwareBytes and AVG both offer free versions. It's also a good idea to check the CoC for this forum.

Yeah, it's usually just to stay cautious. But you never really know ;p I lost my computer in 2007 because of a trojan, so now I'm extra careful...
