The printer seems to ignore Firefox or work around it by using the system print dialog, but fails when forced. Switching to AppSocket Protocol works if you set an IP address via DHCP, though it requires a specific configuration. Using ipp or driverless doesn’t resolve the issue. If you disable driverless and use the Pantum driver, AppSocket still works. You might need to adjust IP settings or try a different configuration method.
1. I'm not familiar with case-folding and haven't tried it yet. From what I remember, NTFS partitions aren't case sensitive, so you might want to store your games folder on an NTFS drive.
2. Modern Linux needs two partitions: one for UEFI setup, booting, and root access (swap if you want hibernation). You can divide the space as you prefer, but having a separate /home partition makes sense.
3. Proton is available in Steam settings, and it should install automatically. However, I've noticed some issues launching other programs with Proton. Wine can be installed from the distribution's repos, though you may need to tweak settings per app. I suggest creating unique Wine prefixes for each program if you plan to run multiple ones.
4. You can configure Proton versions individually for each game via Steam. It's easier to mount the Windows partition and direct Wine to its location, but this approach requires some setup. If you're not sure, a fresh install might be safer.
I'm not familiar with appocket, but could you check if you can assign a static IP to your printer through the modem or router? Doing so might eliminate many issues. Your device supports this feature.
