Hello to all of you. I explored various resources about reducing CPU voltage limits and understanding their effects. This was for my new Lenovo Legion Y540-15IRH with an i5-9300H, 8GB RAM (upgrading to 16GB soon) and an RTX 2060 graphics card. The display offers a 1080p 144Hz panel. The cooling system is excellent right out of the box, but I wanted to test how low I could lower the voltage before experiencing freezing or a blue screen. Currently, I'm using Intel XTU with a -0.185V offset, and everything remains stable. Even after slowly reducing the voltage by -0.005 over about a week, performance stayed consistent. In every benchmark, temperatures never exceeded 70°C. Boosting works smoothly at 4.1GHz across all cores, though it often drops to around 3.99GHz during full load. Is this typical? Should I push it further to find the CPU's absolute limit? Also, I noticed it recovers quickly after powering off. I read somewhere about someone facing similar issues. Should I continue testing it? Also, is there any risk to the CPU cache since it also undervolts? I disabled Intel GPU via Lenovo Vantage, only keeping the RTX active. Thanks for your attention!

Your laptop is performing excellently. It’s a solid machine—congratulations! Consider sharing some screenshots with all the original equipment manufacturers to demonstrate how a well-designed laptop should function. Right now, many gaming laptops are poorly built, overpriced, and often of poor quality. Formerly, some Lenovo models would turn off Intel turbo boost during gameplay. Running XTU in the background while playing a game and reviewing the results afterward can help verify there are no issues.

I believe performance stays the same since the real clock speed remains unchanged. The boost works at 4.1Ghz across all cores, but it didn’t quite register right now. ;p (Just a joke from the forums... clickbait title needed..xD)

You confirmed the results using HWMonitor, showing a boost up to 4.1Ghz (all cores) in CS:GO with temperatures staying under 65°C. Performance was excellent on your machine. Warzone also reached high temps—CPU hit 70°C and CPU stayed at 65°C.

I'll give it a shot. Right now I'm getting a 2006 rating in R20 with just Bitdefender running in the background.

The top Cinebench R20 result on HWBot for the 9300H is 2005. A score around 2006 looks quite strong. https://hwbot.org/submission/4337796_typ...2005_marks No, increasing voltage won’t lower your scores.
