Announcement of Witcher 3 GOTY released.
The announcement for the GOTY edition of The Witcher 3 is coming soon, set for August 30th. I usually wait until most DLCs are finished before diving in, but now I’m excited to get it if it’s released. What do you think? Have you played The Witcher 3 already? Would you still buy the GOTY version even if you own the original game? And for those who haven’t gotten it yet, will you purchase the GOTY when it launches?
I was expecting it, but I already own all the DLC. My sister probably has this one instead.
I might consider purchasing it later once I upgrade my computer, especially if it's on sale. Still, it's okay either way.
It's worth waiting. I'm confident I'll receive the GOTY edition.
I already have the game, the two expansion packs, and the free DLCs on Steam. CD Projekt Red doesn't appear to be a company that pushes you to purchase the Game of the Year edition for minor upgrades, and if they do, I'll likely just accept it without needing extra purchases.
I own the core game alone. I swapped an additional copy of Wasteland 2—gained from backing Kickstarter—for a preorder of Witcher 3, which felt like a nice deal. I’m hoping Steam will provide a discount upgrade to the GotY version, similar to how they offer it for Skyrim Legendary Edition for those who don’t have all its DLC.
I don't think there'll be anything special beyond what's already there. The latest patched version should come with all the DLC pre-installed, including the 16 free downloadable content plus two expansions. They might even add extra items you can get from GOG or Steam, like wallpapers and the soundtrack.
Thanks to NVidia's DSR and the many graphical upgrade packs available, I think the top wallpapers will likely come from the community. Regarding the music—does it come with the Steam version?
