I'm using the 5950X with an ASRock X570M Pro4 and Crucial Ballistix 3600. PBO works well in winter, providing solid stability. During the summer, temperatures rise quickly, and I avoid doing any CPU or GPU rendering. This means my 16C/32T performance isn't being used, which feels inefficient and causes a lot of heat. I've started enabling ECO mode in the summer to manage temperatures, but it's causing frequent crashes. I tried turning off the curve optimizer, but the system keeps freezing and even deleted my 90-hour save in a game. Now I can't restore from the cloud, and I'm considering giving up on this PC. I'm trying to keep it stable but it's frustrating. >_>
It seems like the game would completely lose all its information if a computer crash occurs, especially with a Steam cloud save. This appears to be a major issue. What do you mean by the CPU cooler? And could you clarify that it's not a Hyper 212 evo?
Opt for a stable setup instead of changing ECO settings, as each board behaves differently. You might secure the core or invest in a good cooling solution if you can afford it. Keeping the CPU idle helps maintain lower temperatures even with rising ambient heat. If utilization is high, reduce background processes. Our 5950X storage server operates continuously in the office, maintaining a comfortable 55-60°C with an effective air cooler (current ambient ~30°C or 86°F, AC not working). What system do you use and what temperature concerns exist?
Yeah, PBO and ECO are turned off, along with most special CPU features. It seems to be running smoothly. The Meshify C Mini keeps the CPU temperature under 80°C, typically around 70°C. I mostly want a cooler room, so I’m trying to stay as far from the AC as possible. There’s an uninsulated roof section between me and the air conditioner, making the airflow very poor. When I render with PBO enabled and it’s 115°F outside, my room hits 100°F. Gaming does the same after a while, making the space uncomfortably hot. With SMT off and PBO off, my room stays around 85°F during gaming, though I avoid CPU rendering in summer. Sometimes the sound glitches, the system freezes completely, and it takes me to restart it by unplugging or pressing the power button.
