My PC shuts down during gaming, not always in other apps. After resetting Windows, using stock BIOS, outdated Windows 10, and only NVIDIA drivers, the problem persists. WHEA is logged. It stops when running furMark for 30 minutes, suggesting GPU health. CPUs seem fine and have worked well all year. I had extra power supplies and swapped a motherboard, but benchmarks on RAM/CPU showed no issues. Possibly SSD or motherboard fault—could check further. Since another machine with the same CPU works, I’ll test replacing the SSD. If it helps, I’ll send a file for analysis.
This change occurred after the Windows update. Sometimes issues arise with drivers or updates, and a full reset won't fix them. If the problem stems from faulty patching, reinstalling from an older USB drive might be necessary. System specifications can help clarify further.
I believe the reset cleared updates because it was using a different build version—Win10 19054 instead of 2202h or another. The Z390 Asus 9700k stock with 850rx PSU, 3080 Ti, and thermal pad mod 970 evo 500 GB + 32 GB RAM, no XMP settings, and the CMOS battery was removed. My game only crashes during loading, not while playing.
Does running the timespy benchmark affect stability? An older PSU might cause issues, so I wouldn't suggest using less than 1kW for a fresh build because of voltage spikes. If you have someone with a spare 1kW or better PSU, testing it could help. Also, if your PSU is from when the CPU was just installed, it’s likely already quite old—four years is a concern.
Nope works just fine now. The new SSD is functioning properly. It seems the previous one failed.
