Hello everyone, I'm sharing this to better grasp the MSI Afterburner data I'm seeing. My configuration is: EVGA GTX 1070 i5 8600, 16GB DDR4 2133Mhz, 256GB SSD, B360 Gaming Plus Mobo. I was playing Far Cry 4 and mostly saw GPU usage at 100% while CPU stayed around 40-55%. That usually happened when I was pushing to 144Hz with V-sync on a 1080p 144Hz display. The rest of the time CPU and GPU usage were lower, with FPS not being capped by an FPS lock. The image attached shows this pattern.

I'm wondering: if I keep monitoring over time, could I spot a GPU bottleneck? Even when neither the GPU nor CPU is at full capacity, why doesn't FPS increase? Thanks for your help!

It shouldn't occur with your settings, but it might still be a CPU limitation. Actually, it's not just the total CPU usage that's the issue—it's also how much each core is using. Perhaps one core is always at full capacity and thus restricting your GPU performance. You can also view per-core statistics in Afterburner.

Sure, I'll try it. If it works out, it might be because some games don't take advantage of more than a specific number of cores.

Turn off V-sync, but if the core isn’t reaching 100%, it might not be a CPU issue or GPU limitation—it could point to another factor.
