Hello, you're planning to assemble a new PC and are unsure about DDR5. Your main concern is having enough RAM slots without using only two, especially since you're having trouble finding a 4-pack kit locally. Regarding mixing identical RAM kits, it's generally safe as long as the total capacity matches your system needs.

Mixing RAM across the same brand can cause unexpected issues, such as being unable to use all four slots and needing to send back a kit if it doesn’t match your aesthetic goals. I believe that filling just two slots can still work well without looking out of place.

It means the computer won’t blow up, and there’s a high likelihood it will function properly, but you should be ready if that doesn’t happen.

I understand, it's mainly about appearance, so I can stick with two sticks. I'm checking if a four-stick set is available, but if not, I'll go with two sticks and wait a week or two for a four-stick kit.

I understand it functions well most of the time with DDR4, yet I haven't found any details about DDR5.

Absolutely, that's the risk I'm hesitant about...

Are you really requiring so much memory? If you're on a tighter budget, you might skip the look and focus on saving more for aesthetics later. If your priority was style, it would make sense to adjust your expectations. More RAM is always helpful, unless you're only buying a small amount for gaming—then it's just unnecessary spending.

You can combine two kits with different RAM, but it’s not advised. For your situation, mixing kits of the same RAM should work just fine. Just make sure both have the same speed for optimal performance. Also, note that the system won’t use dual-channel mode, which can limit speed. This might not be accurate, but it seems likely based on what I understand.

The kits should match the same manufacturer, model, and revision. Some RAM suppliers sometimes employ various ICs in different models, which causes compatibility issues because each IC has unique specifications. While some combinations work without problems, others may not. Brands like G.Skill tend to maintain consistency within their lines, such as Trident X or Flare, ensuring similar performance across sets. However, if the revision changes, compatibility can shift. Ideally, obtain identical kits matching the exact model version. Regarding Corsair RAM, beware of potential conflicts with Ryzen processors—especially the Vengeance series—due to past compatibility challenges. While some runs worked, their track record suggests caution. For Intel builds, Corsair generally performs reliably. It’s best to avoid Corsair products unless certain about the revision and IC consistency.

I was really trying to locate a 32g kit with two sticks and two fake ones. It wasn’t available locally unless I imported it, which was too costly. I shifted my search to options like 32g (4×8) or 64g (4×16) based on price, but nothing came up. Maybe I’ll go with a 32g kit with two sticks now.
