Problems can still arise if you mix different memory chips, so using identical kits—like Micron on one board and Samsung on another—might cause boot issues or performance drops, especially at high speeds like 5200MT/s. The chances of this happening are low, but it’s safer to use 2x32GB modules. If you can, opt for kits with guaranteed memory types (same Corsair version, in-house RAM makers, or memory bins with specific ICs). Also, if budget matters, Dominator DIMMs are way too expensive compared to other options.

Thanks for that. Yep... another good question. Are the same size and spec memory pretty much not too different amongst the options? I'm looking at using the ASUS Strix 670E-E Gaming board. Just waiting for the new kid on the block pricing to fade. My current setup is no slouch (9900k and 2080TI with 32GB memory), but I do give the CPU and memory a hard time rendering video and upscaling content. The GPU I max out setting my 4K monitors for gaming to 2K and medium to high settings (I've found the games sweet spot, but the poor GPU still runs near or at 100%), took a bit of fiddling to find the no crash settings. I want to just game native at 4K with ultra and enjoy the few games I do play without risk of crashing (Anno 1800, Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Civilization), but more importantly I want the system to render video as fast as possible. Waiting for the 7900xtx to be released, and then the shiny new price to drop off that. No way I'm buying a 4090 here in Australia, $3200+ Just buying bits at the moment when on special, trying to understand memory before buying that first up next year, and plan to have it all together some time in the first half next year, then sell my current system. Memory confuses me a bit. Same with NVME speeds... but that's another discussion. Thanks for helping me understand this stuff... not knowledgeable on the ins and outs of the tech specifics for computers. I want fast to achieve my purpose, but I watch enough tech channels to know some things you can cut costs and get the same thing cheaper than the more expensive branding. Just trying to work out which parts those are without sacrificing my overall system. The board choice is more about OC and forward upgrades.
