I'm trying to understand which benchmark tests are most demanding and suitable for specific purposes. Many people suggest using prime95, OCCT, or the XTU CPU stress test, but few actually look up the exact settings they use. I need to know which tests are the most intensive and why, as well as how long each should be run for reliable results. Something like a quick summary would help. My focus is mainly on these: Prime95 small FFT (very tough on all systems), OCCT CPU stress test (all tests aren't as intense), OCCT with AVX/AVX2 in normal mode, OCCT CPU index tab (small or big mode), OCCT Linpack 2019/2021, Linpack Extreme (not tried yet), and Cinebench R23. I'm also considering undervolting my CPU 10 generations for power savings, so any advice on that would be appreciated.

It hinges on how much you can handle fluctuations in performance. I'd expect something to remain stable for endless time before showing any issues. With overclocking, passing Linpack tests usually means minimal gaming-related instability. For undervolting, thermal limits aren't a concern, so I'd explore more intensive benchmarks. Prime95 Small FFT, XTU Stress test AVX, and Linpack Extreme are the most varied; I'd aim to run them all. If you're okay with some dips (like in casual gaming), skip the hotter tests and concentrate on XTU and Linpack.

You can skip the most intense tests using AVX and maybe use OCCT LinPack 2019 instead. For testing duration, 10 minutes works, but you could extend it to an hour or more depending on your needs. Linpack Extreme is different from OCCT LinPack—each has its own focus and features.

This setup has been stable for quite some time. I aim for at least an hour, though I usually let it keep running until I’m done—often around an hour, sometimes longer if I need to finish a task (sometimes 4, sometimes up to 8 if it gets late and I want to rest). I haven’t encountered any issue where something runs exactly an hour and then stops; however, it’s possible in theory. Technically, the OCCT Linpack version has made a few minor adjustments, but in practice they’re similar tests with a different interface. I only switch between the two, not both at once.
