Hi there. I played a game on my PC using Discord in the background. Suddenly, my game reported it couldn't reach its servers. At the same time, a friend from another city messaged me saying Valorant was down too. I agreed, thinking we were both experiencing the same problem. I quit the game and discovered Discord was also unavailable for me. When I asked a friend nearby, they confirmed it was down there as well. Then I checked my friends’ groups—three of us had Discord issues, while four others had it working. Things got even more puzzling when I switched to my carrier’s data pack from Wi-Fi; the Discord app connected properly. But when I switched to cellular data on my phone, Discord kept failing. My friend sent me a Discord message while I was on Wi-Fi (cellular off), and I saw it in notifications but couldn’t open the app. Websites like YouTube and Twitch worked perfectly on Wi-Fi across all devices. In short, I and a few friends can’t connect to Discord over Wi-Fi, but we can do so using cellular data. The rest of my friends are able to join Discord on their Wi-Fi connections. The same group that couldn’t access Discord also couldn’t reach the game servers. Note: each person’s location and ISP differ, which might be causing these inconsistencies. All popular sites seem to load normally on Wi-Fi, so it’s likely a local connectivity or server issue. Please let me know what might be causing this!
It doesn’t seem like there’s anything that can be resolved right now. Just wait for the ISP to address the problem. It looks like an outage might be affecting a wide region.
Sounds like an interruption in the connection between your ISP, nodes in between and the game server. Your cellular network probably isn't affected since they use alternate network routes to the same server. You can try using a VPN connection to see if it happens to bypass that interruption but you might run into latency issues. Just have to wait to see if your ISP can redirect their traffic around the interrupted segment.
