An unusual printer issue with model ET-2720
An unusual printer issue with model ET-2720
I own an Epson Ecotank ET-2720, and encountered a peculiar issue.
Initially, everything functioned perfectly with Windows 10.
After switching to Windows 11, it still operated smoothly for a week or so.
Then I added the Epson Perfection V550 scanner.
Eventually, I considered installing another scanner, which triggered the strange problem.
I followed the steps to install the ET-2720 drivers again, but something failed.
Both scanners stopped working suddenly.
I uninstalled all printer and scanner drivers and reinstalled the ET-2720.
It printed correctly once, but after restarting the computer it froze during printing. It resumed printing but slowed down significantly, eventually freezing with a long delay before completing.
I suspected an issue with Windows, thinking my actions had caused a malfunction.
So I restored an earlier system image from a week ago—this time no printers or scanners were installed.
Then I reinstalled the printer, but the same problems persisted.
After resetting the printer to factory settings, there was still no improvement.
Every attempt to install it works initially, but after the next restart it fails.
This situation is confusing. If restoring a clean Windows image, reinstalling drivers, and resetting the printer doesn’t resolve the problem, what’s happening?
Additionally, testing with my Linux laptop worked perfectly, which adds to the mystery.
I’m at a loss—this seems completely out of place.
Where did you get the drivers from? Make sure you obtained the correct ET-2720 drivers from Epson's official site.

Please confirm you are on the right pages.
I focused on the appropriate locations:

Shortly, when searching for Windows 10 and Windows 11 drivers for the ET-2720 All-in-One on Epson's platform, I noticed several sites claiming to be Epson but not genuine.
In the Operating System section, I selected Windows 11.
I answered my own question, I was too quick and posted it, then I realized my issue.
It looks like the Win11 print spooler is causing a problem.
When I opened the console and stopped the spooler, cleared it, and restarted, the printer worked again for a while. Until I needed to do it once more.
This never happened with Win10, but keeps occurring with 11.
Maybe I should try using Windows 10 for now.
So, the issue seems resolved, I guess.

Checked the links:

Confirmed the relevant page for the ET-2720 drivers was:

Reduced the options to the proper location.
Selected Windows 11 from the Operating System settings.
I obtained the drivers from EPSON USA's official site.

The Win11 drivers handled the issue for me. I also attempted the older version intended for Win10, but it didn’t work.
I had to carry out some tasks, which led me to revert to Windows 10. After that, everything functioned smoothly again.
I plan to continue using it now and try again with Windows 11 later, once the operating system has improved and new driver updates are released.
Good plan.
Monitor the driver version numbers on Epson's website to stay updated on new releases.
Check the "bug fix"/changes if available.
Review the FAQs and Epson Forums for guidance.
Heed what others say and ask questions.
Consider company responses, both explicit and implicit.
Over time, you'll notice that any driver-related problems with Windows 11 have been resolved.
Then attempt to use version 11 again.
