I wanted to enjoy an old game, Need for Speed most wanted 2005, since I missed the full joy of adjusting my vintage cars. When I began the game, everything ran at about 10 frames per second. My setup includes an Intel i5 4460, GTX 970, and 8GB RAM—seems like my PC is fine. I’m using Windows 10, but I’ve tried running it in Windows 7 and XP compatibility mode, though it remained slow. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It's just you, and that's what's causing me worry.

Consider reinstalling the game. Also, check if it's running at full CPU power and monitor GPU activity. It might be designed for older hardware—let me know.

I reinstalled it and gave it high priority, but the issue remains. I changed my GTX 970 to an 8400 GS, limited my CPU to two cores, replaced one of my 4GB RAM sticks, yet nothing worked... I’m planning to test it in a VM to check if the problem persists.

It seems like a Windows issue might be involved. I added nfs carbon and it behaved the same even after three months. It could be a registry conflict or another program interfering. I’m not sure what to do next.
