They were the ones to deliver the flaws (or at least avoid solving them) originally, which means they’re probably diving into Apple’s strategy of criticizing past products to push newer versions. People buy them hoping for perfection and then the cycle continues.

It requires root privileges. I might be able to build the app for you, but it still needs that level of access. The article mentioned that apps generally need permission to use the camera, and in Android API 20+, users should be prompted to grant access.
