I noticed the prices on the latest chips and chuckled. I won’t expect $500 from an 8-core, 16-thread CPU. Since I stream at 1440p, the gap won’t be very noticeable.
What about a CPU that matches the 10900K but isn’t too basic for your needs? (Also, this is the $450 model, not the $550.)
The concern is about launching an 8-core, 16-thread component at 320 units. The newer version with 8 cores adds 120-130 extra cost over a half-year period, which is quite expensive.
It was the R7 3700X. The R7 3800X cost $399 when it came out, making the 5800X about $50 more. A 5700X is probably closer to $379 if they launch one next.
yeah but as i stated somewhere else too. the 3700x was pretty much comparable with the 3800x. the 3800x was then a useless buy especially at that price. and now they want to charge you even 120 more for an 8 core? in 2020?
they don't focus on that. it's compared to the 10700k, not the 10900k. their slides mentioned it matches the 10700k in gaming at 1080p... okay? So it won't surpass the 10900k. Instead, they're moving to the 10850k, which is currently on the market for about $450. That's a reasonable price for an 8-core processor in 2020? That seems quite far from what you expect. It doesn't seem worth it. And honestly, most people with these high-end parts don't play at 1080p.
