AMD software failures on HD 7790 and RX 580 models with legacy drivers
Hardware details: Motherboard model ASRock B550 Phantom Gaming; CPU AMD Ryzen 5 4600G; Graphics MSI RX 580 (specifications uncertain); Previous SSD was Sapphire HD 7790; OS Drive uses WD Blue SN570 250GB; HDD removed from HP, likely a 1 TB unit; Power supply Thermaltake Toughpower GX2 80+ Gold 600W; RAM Crucial 2x8GB DDR4 3200; OS Windows 10 Home 64bit.
Issue notes: Problems seem tied to Google Chrome and video playback. Initially, the HD7790 driver kept failing, causing crashes. After several driver changes, performance improved briefly before recurring. Replaced with RX 580, which now functions for weeks. Still encountering problems—especially with video output from CPU. Driver cleanup tools used, but persistent issues remain.
I’m uncertain if the core problem lies in outdated drivers or something else, like the inability to access the Adrenlin Pro interface needed for monitor settings. The PC serves as a multi-purpose device for home use, streaming, email, and browsing.
Potential causes: Driver instability, legacy driver conflicts, or hardware limitations. I’ve tried reinstalling drivers and updated BIOS versions, but results are inconsistent. If you need more details, feel free to ask. I’m capable of basic troubleshooting and can handle more involved fixes if needed.
Edit: Included a screenshot showing the pop-up; it appears intact, just timing issues. The HD7790 did report driver errors. Updated October 5, 2023 by ThatGuy5
