Hello everyone, it's been over ten years since I posted on that forum—either to talk about something or seek assistance. This problem really pushed me, so I'm back trying again! I'm planning to set up a new desktop to host an extra GPU. The build looks like this: CPU is an AMD Ryzen 5 5600X at 3.7 GHz with 3 cores, the motherboard is MSI MPG B550 Gaming Edge WiFi, memory is Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16, the video card is an EVGA SC GAMING ACX 3.0 Black Edition with a 8 GB GeForce GTX 1070 Ti, and the power supply is SHARKOON SilentStorm Cool Zero 650 650 W, which is 80+ Gold certified. I've installed Manjaro Linux and everything worked smoothly for about two weeks. Then suddenly, while browsing the internet, the display went black—no signal at all, but the memory and other parts stayed normal. After a reset, the CPU debug LEDs showed it wasn't starting up properly. Since there was no better solution, I re-seated all components and checked everything. I replaced storage drives, re-seated the CPU (checked thermal paste, bent pins, any damage), and adjusted the DRAM stick configurations (single, double, different slots). Some steps went against MSI guidelines, but I changed DRAM debug LEDs on this board using a different power supply that worked. I also noticed a bug where the system couldn't reboot or shut down when the keyboard was plugged into one of the top USB ports (near the PS2). I moved the keyboard to another USB port and used the computer normally for a day afterward. I bought an Asus ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING WIFI II ATX AM4 motherboard, but it still didn't POST, though the debug LEDs kept showing DRAM activity. On the MSI board, the CPU LED was still on. I'm starting to suspect the issue might be with the CPU itself, even though I don't have any specific parts available for testing yet. I'm hoping someone can offer alternative ideas or solutions.
It might be the power supply unit that's the issue. There have been some problems with this exact PSU in recent years, causing CPUs and other parts to fail. It seems likely your 5600X is affected. The safest approach would be testing it on another board you've used before, but it still didn't work there. I'd recommend replacing both the CPU and the PSU.
