Hello, welcome! I understand this might be a bit confusing. Could you confirm if you're looking for general advice or specific details about compatibility between the AMD Ryzen 5 5600G and the MSI MPG X570S EDGE MAX WIFI motherboard? Also, please note that PCPartBuilder's opinions may vary, so checking their site directly could help.

It functions as long as the BIOS is current enough. The issue might be coming from a different source. It seems you're noticing higher costs compared to the CPU, and it doesn't seem particularly unique.

The seller mentions the motherboard is compatible with a certain CPU lineup, but this doesn't necessarily mean it's the latest model. The choice was influenced by the Wi-Fi 6 feature and its fit within the Fractal Design Torrent case.

Yes, an ATX board can fit in that situation.

Suggest using a more affordable board such as the B550 Pro A, then add an upgrade card. This allows flexibility for future boards. Also, ensure you have a Wi-Fi 6 router or it won't be very useful :p

I discovered a new motherboard: MSI B550M PRO-VDH WIFI. It’s more affordable as expected and includes all the features I need. However, PCPartPicker still flags it as potentially incompatible. Here’s the link to PCPartPicker with the full parts list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/PgCQZw

They claim that all B550 and X570 boards need a BIOS upgrade to work with 5000G CPUs. Just choose a B550 board with the BIOS flashback feature and handle it yourself. Why opt for a 5600G when you can get away with a 5600X? It offers slightly less performance, misses PCI-e4.0 support, and costs just $20 less.
