the gigabyte pro x399 motherboard uses both 1 8-pin and 1 4-pin connectors, and both are necessary for it to function properly. i won’t be overclocking. this is because i have a brand new thermaltake 700w psu. thanks.

You can operate it perfectly using only the 8PIN. I do the same with a 1950X on an Asrock X399M. There are also solid overclock options for just the 8PIN.

This largely depends on your character build, the temperature, and even the chip selection. Usually, you won’t achieve world-record performances unless you’re using maximum settings.
