This article discusses using The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt tessellation settings on AMD GPUs. It suggests avoiding double tessellation as it lowers quality and appearance, comparing performance across different levels like 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x, and 64x. The piece highlights that enabling Nvidia HairWorks can improve performance over GeForce users without Maxwell GPUs, though results may vary. A comparison image is referenced to illustrate the differences. The linked photo also shows tessellation levels for 290x. Have you experimented with this approach?

It functions correctly. The standard setup is excessively detailed, hurting performance across all GPUs. It's a major issue for an otherwise well-optimized game. Suggest using 16x or at least 8x. If you go below that, consider disabling hairworks.

Nvidia's standard Tessel settings are 64x, which isn't ideal even with their own chips. Switching to 8x or 16x will make it work on more devices.

The same effect appeared in Crysis 2's tessellated water, reducing Nvidia's performance by 20%. However, it was beneficial for them to use 64x tess on water as it cut AMD's impact by half.

Regrettably, Nvidia players can't adjust settings. No in-game controls or panel options are available.

Consider beginning a fresh run of Witcher 3 with top-tier options at around 30 frames per second to observe the experience.

I understand, but this applies only to AA. The tiling remains at 64x, which seems unnecessary.

You can adjust the settings to 8x Tess or 16x Tess if needed, especially if 8x feels odd. I'm currently using Hairworks on everything except Geralt mod—it looks much better and runs more smoothly. http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/165/

It functions, though it often appears unappealing and reduces performance. The hair is in good condition.
