I'm considering boosting my FX6300's performance. Can I only do it with just 4GB of RAM?

Your RAM quantity is unrelated to the process of overclocking, so you shouldn't encounter any issues there. Your motherboard's performance may also limit its ability to support significant overclocking.

A consistent stable increase in clock speed on that motherboard will likely offer only minor improvements in performance.

I was thinking about an upgrade. Just a note, my PC has been here for three years now. The new one is different.

I already receive 200fpd in Fortnite, so upgrading isn't essential at the moment.

Upgrading with a new motherboard for that rig is pointless. AM3+ isn't worth it anymore. It's smarter to invest in a fresh motherboard along with the CPU and RAM.

Yeah, but it's not essential since everyone understands you can't install an FX6300 into a new MBP. Of course, I'd want a new CPU anyway.

Oh, sorry for the confusion, but I interpreted it differently than you intended. You were referring to just a fresh (AM3+) motherboard with the FX 6300, not a new mobile device.
