I recently got a amd fx 9590 for my pc which originally had a amd fx 4170(yes I know this is old hardware) and when I swapped the cpus the cpu light came on and my pc won't boot. Everything will turn on like gpu, hdd, fans and accessories plus theres some thermal activity coming from the cpu. Any help would be appreciated.

The 9590 isn't compatible with your board: https://www.asus.com/us/supportonly/sabertooth 990fx/helpdesk_cpu/ This is because over 90% of AM3 boards lack the necessary VRMs to power this chip.

These issues are quite serious, though the GIGABYTE boards offered solid safeguards against such problems. I recall accidentally triggering the OCP for a GIGABYTE 970A-DS3P while boosting an FX 8350 to 4.3GHz.
