amd fx 8320 paired with asus m5a97 evo r2.0 for overclocking
Hello, I purchased a PC with these rigs. My CPU is currently at 3.7 ghz and I'm considering overclocking it. My power supply is a 600w Thermaltake model and I have a Corsair H55 water cooler. Can I overclock this system? What are the possible risks? What are the recommended frequency and voltage values? Thanks for your answers.
This motherboard has limited VRM performance and has trouble handling 125w CPUs at their default settings. Switching to an AIO cooler has improved cooling, but I expect the CPU might still throttle under stock conditions.
It's clear the benefits of boosting performance aren't worth the cost of a new motherboard. I wouldn't invest further in the outdated FX/AM3+ setup.
Honestly, the benefits of overclocking won’t make up for a new motherboard. I wouldn’t invest more in the old FX/AM3+ setup.
Alright, thanks ^^
I’ll keep using my current gear until I can afford a full replacement. Appreciate your time.
It isn't trash, it's acceptable at 40+ FPS, though it runs on an outdated system with no future upgrades. Just keep your expectations in check.
You're experiencing a 40-60 fps gap in games such as PUGG, RING OF ELYSIUM, ARCHEAGE, and WORLD OF WARCRAFT. This should help your FPS value match your system's capabilities, especially with a temperature range of 45-50 max.
