Today I checked eBay and saw a 32-core AMD EPYC 7551 for $150. I wondered if it could work well for everyday use and what the pros and cons might be.

Even with a high overclock setting, the performance will be quite poor because of the slow processor speeds and the outdated Zen architecture. It’s better to opt for a used Ryzen single-core model since it will be more practical for everyday tasks like gaming and browsing. The older boards you find today, even at around 250$, are still quite costly when compared to modern alternatives. For a budget of about 400$, you can get a 7551 processor and an SP3 board, or you can pair it with a used B3/450 or X3/470 board if you’re lucky.
