Recently, I upgraded to a Radeon 9070xt from the 3070Ti. While playing Silent Hill 2 remake, the game abruptly crashed and I got a notification saying "AMD Software detected that a driver timeout has occurred on your system." An issue report was generated for AMD to assist in improving their software. I cleared my PC after using DDU, but when I tried Stalker 2, the same message appeared. I decided to downgrade my driver to version 25.9.2, which seemed to help so far. However, during Stalker 2, I noticed a similar warning in the area where the game had previously crashed. It seems I might be at risk of another crash in more demanding games. I’m wondering if there’s anything I should adjust in my BIOS or settings within Windows or Adobe Software—perhaps turning certain options on or off? Or is the latest updates from AMD/Windows not resolving the problem? These crashes don’t require a restart; my screen goes black but I can keep using the PC for about 5 to 10 seconds.

CPU: Ryzen 9800x3d
GPU: Radeon Hellhound RX 9070 XT 16GB GDDR6 OC Edition
RAM: 2x16gb Kingston fury 6000
PSU: MSI MAG A850GL PCIE5 850W

Did you set up the AMD chipset drivers prior to installing the latest video drivers?
Check the link for details: https://www.amd.com/en/support/downloads.../x870.html
Reminder: All AM5 systems use identical drivers.
What signs suggested a potential crash was imminent?

I already have it set up, though I didn't install it before the newest driver release since I wasn't aware there was a chipset driver until I looked in the install manager inside Adrenaline software. However, I've maintained the installation after using DDU to downgrade to 25.9.2.

It seemed like a significant delay, but it quickly returned to normal once I finished it.

Consider applying the newest chipset drivers and then reboot the system. After restarting, update the video drivers to the latest available versions from the AMD website. Restart once the installation is done. Be sure to download the most recent updates directly from the AMD source. Use DISM and SFC to verify your operating system's stability, especially after experiencing some crashes. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...em...6e85d4094e Try playing your games again. To add, if you perform any overclocking beyond the original GPU settings, pause and test at normal speeds.

With the current chipset driver and adrenaline version 25.9.2, should I proceed with the remaining steps? I believe the only changes I need to make are enabling XMP for my RAM.

Yes. You may also attempt to turn off XMP during testing.
