The 3400g offers superior GPU performance compared to the i3. The accurate benchmark should be against the 3300x.

Check the lengthy discussion thread where many are upset about AMD raising prices compared to last year. They point out that despite better performance and higher IPC, the new Ryzen 3000 series still shares the same TDP as before. It’s hard to believe they’d charge more for such improvements!

They appear alike because, at a larger level, they match. The production methods aren't flawless; once made, each die undergoes extensive checks before being wrapped into the final CPU product. The Zen/Zen+/Zen 2 design, for instance, uses up to four chiplets per package, and during testing these are evaluated. If all four cores function correctly, they can be assembled into an 8, 12, or 16 core CPU (like the 2700X). Should three cores succeed, they're combined with another three-core chiplet for a 6-core unit (such as the 3600). When just two cores perform well, they're paired with a second 2-core chiplet to form a 4-core processor. If one or none work, they're discarded. Essentially, the cost difference between cheaper and premium CPUs isn't significant; in reality, making the budget models saves on waste, ensuring only fully functional parts are used, while higher-end chips still benefit from reduced material loss.

It's worth noting that 1200 is around 14nm and 2700x is about 12nm. Are these truly representing cutting-edge technology, or are only some parts reaching those dimensions?

It's likely the Zen+ chiplets in the 2700X package contain more transistors than the Zen chiplets in the 1200 package within the same package size. This is logical because it enables shared manufacturing processes for cutting and packaging. At such small scales, visual inspection isn't possible, so the devices would appear identical. Athlon isn't soldered. The chip appears distinct likely due to the integrated graphics card. It's clearly separate from the 1200 or 2700x models.

Back then, I remember it was about two years ago. Intel managed to secure deals with marginally lower costs and a bit stronger gaming performance—though rumors say AMD is pushing more "Ryzen gen" releases at slightly higher prices that aren't essential.
