You need to figure out how to remove the heatsink yourself. Since your dad installed it in 1999, check if there are any instructions or tools he used. If not, look for a screw or clip that secures it and try gently loosening it. Be careful not to damage anything.

Take the CPU out of its socket. Look at those metal clips at the top—there’s likely a method to release them. BE EXTREMELY CAUTIOUS: The CPU chip is visible, and breaking it could ruin it.

Start with the initial phase, then gently remove the adhesive nose clamps securing the heatsink. Exercise caution, as these chips typically lack heat spreaders. Handling the die carefully is important to avoid damaging it during startup.

There’s no necessity to remove the heatsink unless there’s an issue. It shouldn’t be done unless something is amiss. To extract the CPU, simply take it out of its slot.

The sole power supply I had compatible with that setup failed, so I’m replacing it.

You're facing an issue with the plastic clips not coming off despite your efforts. Try another method or consult a professional for assistance.

I think you're mainly seeking individuals who can handle the task. I have three solid hard drives, each with 20 GB, and I need them wiped. I also have three 128 MB RAM modules and a GeForce 6200 graphics card.
