AMD 7040 runs smoothly even when connected, great performance!
When connected to power, the GPU consumes over 20W; detached it uses less than 20W even at maximum performance. This pattern is typical. But after turning on the PC, disconnecting, and reconnecting, the system reaches a peak of 20W (averaging around 15W). To guarantee the CPU and GPU draw more than 20W each, you must restart the laptop once it's plugged in again. Otherwise, it behaves like a battery-powered setup. Repeatedly restarting feels inconvenient—stop whatever you're doing, save tasks, reconnect, restart, then resume. I believe thermal concerns can be ignored here since I'm currently in a hotel and managed to enable high-power mode while working on a bed. It seems the issue isn't tied to battery level; I've tested with different chargers (UGREEN 140W, Baseus EnerFill FE11) and even used a Framework laptop with AMD7640U. Anyone experiencing similar problems?
