Do you have any recommendations or ideas for pairing this CPU with the Nvidia RTX 4090?

Looking for a 6000 speed RAM setup? AM5 tends to be quite selective, but people usually succeed. I own a 4070S paired with a 7800, and it performs amazingly in games. It’s hard to believe how great a 4090 would be! The main issue I faced was booting problems—slow and frustrating. Sometimes it wouldn’t even start. Turns out my RAM didn’t play well with it. I ended up getting a kit that was XMP optimized, and my ASUS board handled it under DOCP, but stability remained an issue. I didn’t realize there was a big difference. Eventually, I switched to an EXPO-Optimized model (G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 64 GB, 2 x 32 GB DDR5-6400 CL32), and it worked perfectly.

You can safely lower the voltage on the 7800X3D—setting all cores to -20 is fine. This brings a noticeable improvement overall. Disabling PBO and other unnecessary features helps too; they don’t add performance and can even hurt thermal management. Hope this inspires a great build!
