AM4Roblox occasionally stops unexpectedly, unclear if overheating is the cause
After a recent reset, I reinstalled Roblox and it began freezing unexpectedly across most games. This happened for the first time, so I wasn’t sure what was wrong. I checked my cooling setup—still using the same stock cooler—and thought it might be related to overheating. However, I’m not sure if the issue is with the PSU or the cooling system. The temperatures stay low during idle (under 40-50°C) and spike to around 90°C under load. The GPU and CPU are new, and the CPU was installed recently. I’m trying to identify another cause besides overheating.
perform a furmark or another GPU test using prime95 simultaneously. If it crashes, check the PSU; otherwise, it may be due to instability from overclocking, undervolting, or hardware issues. RAM could also be the culprit, or something unexpected like board failure—likely a bad board if this happens.
Roblox was functioning prior to the issue. After resetting, make sure drivers were installed and configured correctly.
Roblox had some issues before, but I think I fixed it by properly installing things and resetting the data. I also updated all the CPU and GPU drivers. Recently, I noticed a graphics problem with my Discord messages, so it’s possible I missed something.
Your CPU temperatures while using Roblox are elevated. The issue appears to stem from a driver or software problem. Before the reset, you experienced problems, so resetting likely addressed the core conflict. Performing a data reset after installing the OS may have been unnecessary or disruptive.
I'd consider using HWInfo64 or HWMonitor to track your temperatures. It seems like the NZXT Cam isn't my preferred choice for monitoring temps. With 40% CPU load and reaching 82°C isn't great, even with your stock cooler. I think the 5800X doesn't include a built-in cooler, so did you buy a separate stock AM4 cooler?
