My perspective is you probably can, provided all connections are correct. Still, I’d be guessing without direct experience.
Additionally, there’s a chance the issue could arise from improper mounting of the cooler. Without the top retention plate, pressure might be unevenly distributed, potentially damaging the socket. From an electrical standpoint, it might function, but practically I’d recommend replacing the motherboard. That’s just my guess.
Cooler height could be a problem and might harm the socket. I've tried swapping sockets on two 400 series boards, replacing broken ones. The delay in getting parts from China affected my plans, so I bought two of each (Lotes and FoxConn) to have backups. The two brands aren't compatible, making it hard to tell which one is right without seeing them closely or finding clear photos.
