If you plan to purchase a Ryzen 5000, avoid using MSI boards as they can significantly slow down RAM performance, even when using XMP profiles. See the discussion thread for more details.

You might want to wait for the Dark Hero board if you're after a crosshair. It's likely to cost more due to Asus, but you'll get a better VRM upgrade—power stages reach 90A—and no chipset fan. The Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut offers superior thermal paste. For fans, the Arctic Liquid Freezer II is a solid choice.
The Crosshair VIII Hero features 60A power stages and includes a chipset fan, which is why I highlighted it.
Got the RAM so far and the PSU is what I already have will have to review online if any issues with the 3080 ( EVGA 750W 80+ Gold Certified). So I went with the standard Crosshair VIII Hero, 60A should still be a lot more than needed for the 5900. I got the motherboard with Wi-Fi for only £320 instead of the standard £420. Now I just need to find someone to give me a CPU for me to test it with before the 30d return runs out.
