Are you experiencing difficulty finding B450 MSI boards in your area? I faced a similar challenge when setting up my Ryzen 5 3600 in August of last year. Most MSI models offer VRMs that are truly solid, while other manufacturers provide either insufficient or questionable performance. I chose the ASRock B450M Steel Legend, which after local modifications is available for around 88 USD (or the full ATX version at about 102 USD). The VRMs here aren’t exceptional, but compared to other B450 options, they’re quite adequate. For a Ryzen 7 2700, it should run smoothly even without overclocking. If you’re considering alternatives to B450 VRMs without breaking the bank on an X570, the X470 might be worth exploring. These boards generally offer better quality and more features, with potentially improved VRMs if you're willing to invest a bit more. The lower-end X470 models share similar VRM setups as the top-tier non-MSI B450 boards. PCIE 4.0 support is limited to X570 and higher models, which start around 200 USD. If your budget falls between 110-120 USD, you’ll likely miss out on that feature unless you opt for more advanced options. Some other ATX boards in the same VRM category include the Asus B450 TUF Pro, Strix B450-E, and ASRock B450 Gaming K4. There are also two additional models in the same tier, but they’re ITX designs. I received instructions to purchase the Gigabyte X570 UD and bought it. It functions properly, but the main issue is the PCH fan making a loud noise when spinning. When using the quiet profile in BIOS, it doesn’t spin at all, whereas the performance mode spins around 2200 RPM and is the most noisy part of the system, producing a noticeable disturbance. I found reports suggesting this problem affects many X570 boards. To test the fan at half speed—like 1000 RPM—I need to determine if the sound is typical or excessive.
This difference is typical. Running OCCT with AVX2 across multiple cores generally allows higher performance without overheating, while using a single core can push temperatures closer to limits like 61.6°C. The voltage and frequency specs you mentioned are within normal operating ranges for such workloads.
