I'm just noticing that one stands out right now since I need a PC to run Fallout 3, NV, Garrys Mod, Minecraft, Roblox, and VirtualBox. I'm leaning toward AMD because it's more affordable and I require cores for VirtualBox, plus its GPU is already AMD. Thanks in advance, Sombrero!

Avoid them all. AM4 is better. AM3 performance wasn't good.

The main issue is that I'm working with a $100 budget...

I had to repurpose components from my Core 2 PC (DDR3 support, HHD, SSD, hard drive, case, and power supply)

AM3 supported up to 6 cores, whereas the FX-8350 offers 8 cores. It's not great in terms of core count, but it provides more.

I've noticed those older i5 and i7 models often end up being overpriced. Still, the AM3 chips didn't perform very well. What's the current market price for used versions in your area? Also, for those earlier generations, Xeon E3s (like the 1230v2) can be a more affordable option since they aren't marketed as i7s.

Phentom 6 had 40 dollars each, Phentom 4 cost 20, and Athlon was 15, which is why I chose the Athlon.

Avoid selecting the Athlon option.

Did you buy it already? If we're talking AM3 and not AM3+ there is no competition, Sandy Bridge hands down for all tasks. What does an i5-3570 or Xeon E3-1230V2 go for? Edit: Just E3-1230 ofc, V2 is Ivy bridge, my bad
