You can recreate the media key behavior by using an AHK script to map left Ctrl and arrow keys to the corresponding media functions.

On most Linux systems you can change keys and combinations freely. Navigate to Menu → Applications → Preferences → Keyboard Shortcuts and set up a new shortcut or reassign existing ones. Custom shortcuts can start any program or script when needed.

Also consider `xcape` (https://github.com/alols/xcape) for more advanced features like taping at ESC and holding it as a control for the CapsLock key.
