Allowing XMP Output on a Black Screen
Allowing XMP Output on a Black Screen
Hi all, I've checked various forums and online sources but haven't found a solution for similar issues. I'm trying to enable XMP in UEFI-BIOS, then save and exit, but I end up with a Black Screen of Death.
My PC Specs:
CPU – Intel i7 8700K 3.7Ghz
Motherboard – ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC)
Memory – 4 x 8 GB G-Skill Trident Z RGB DDR4 3200 - XMP 2.0 Ready
GPU – Gigabyte NVIDIA GTX 1080 G1-Gaming
Storage – 240GB SSD + 480GB SSD
UEFI-Bios Version 2401 (2019/07/18)
Downloaded from ASUS Support
I've updated the BIOS and removed CMOS for 30 seconds before and after. RAM speed is currently 2133Mhz without XMP.
🙁
Any suggestions?
Hi mate, sorry for the delayed reply. I also have some XMP issues before you read my post here. Based on what I've seen, updating your BIOS to the latest version usually helps fix the problem. You might want to lower your XMP speed first—like from 3200 to 2400 in the BIOS settings—if it runs smoothly. Once stable, you can increase it up to the maximum. For stability testing, try using RAM checkers such as memtest, which you can download from this link: https://hcidesign.com/memtest/. If your RAM is solid and error-free, you could even borrow some friends' RAM to test.

If your RAM is still causing trouble, consider borrowing a friend's RAM to test. If the issue persists, it’s best to take it back for replacement. I hope this helps you fix the problem.
