Hey, I see the issue you're facing. Your PC freezes audio and media playback without affecting the screen or your input devices. It only stops when you restart, and it seems to happen more often lately. No signs of a full system freeze, just intermittent playback problems. Let me know if you need tips on troubleshooting!
I believe the issue might be with my headset. Over the past few months I've faced several problems including: 1. Keyboard not responding despite lights staying on 2. Headset audio cutting out for about 30 seconds then resuming 3. Random crackling and distortion in sound 4. Mouse wheel moving upward slightly when scrolling down, sometimes stopping completely 5. Computer freezing completely and other times crashing
Alright, I think it's time you called the Ghostbusters In all seriousness, this sounds like odd signals coming from your peripherals. Worst case scenario, it could be your ports. Hopefully it's just your peripherals. If you are using a multi port hub, try plugging them directly into the ports. Use the back ones if you can. If you've ever messed with an equalizer or other audio settings, try turning them down, this might help with the crackling. Not sure how to help with the freezing. Can you list your specs? If anyone has any better ideas, please comment.
I’ve connected all USB devices at the rear and haven’t adjusted any EQ settings. The PC is brand new, only 2-3 months old. I understand UserBenchmark is a bit harsh, but you can view the specs here: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/56525054
Thanks for the update—seems like a GPU problem. I’d try removing the drivers with DDU first, then reinstall from GeForce Experience. The 3070 is acting up, possibly due to driver issues. Here’s the direct download link: https://www.wagnardsoft.com/DDU/download/DDU v18.0.5.8.exe. Also, your RAM speed is 2133mt/s JEDEC; make sure BIOS is set to XMP for up to 3600mt/s. You might want to check GPU-Z and capture the specs—looking at PCIe version could help identify if it’s a motherboard or chipset issue, which might also affect your SSD performance.
The 3070 is not running well, possibly due to a driver problem. Consider making a backup before proceeding and choose the appropriate settings.
I would open BIOS and turn on resizable BAR. Having a backup is always helpful, it shouldn’t cause Windows to crash but it’s wise to do. If you’ve ever used an AMD GPU in your setup, pick the AMD GPU driver removal options, execute them, then run the NVIDIA driver removal steps (skip rebooting during that process). Alternatively, just follow the NVIDIA instructions. After that, fetch the newest drivers from NVIDIA and install them.
