I’m pulling my hair out trying to figure this out – these stutters are driving me crazy! It's really noticeable when I’m playing Call of Duty Warzone, but I’ve been seeing it in other games too.

I recently put together a new PC with an 8-core Ryzen 3700x, a GeForce 1060, 16gb of RAM, and a 1920x1080 60hz ASUS monitor, and I used to have the same problem with my old build – an i5 4670k. For a couple of months everything was running perfectly, but now it’s started stuttering again, which makes me think it's something wrong with the PC itself.

I’ve tried absolutely everything: updating drivers, lowering in-game settings, capping my FPS, messing around with Windows 10 – even disabling the game bar. I’ve reinstalled all my games and tried different antivirus software and exceptions. I’ve deleted any new apps I'd installed, but nothing seems to fix it. My CPU usage is usually around 50% and memory around 60%, and the temperatures are normal too – it’s not overheating.

I’m completely stumped! Has anyone got any suggestions for what else I can try? Thanks.

I have a few ideas:
Windows was reinstalled AFTER the upgrade?
Are you relying on any 3rd party software, like Msi's Dragon Center, Corsair iCUE, Asus Aura Sync, or Driver Booster?
Does that monitor support ANY kind of Adaptive Sync Technology?

I hadn’t done a full Windows reinstall because the AMD updates didn't require it. I wanted to explore other possibilities first, just in case it was something small I could fix.

I’m only using essential software – things like Comodo antivirus, Core Temp, CCleaner, Discord, and Malwarebytes. I’ve kept the number of programs down to a minimum.

I'm not sure my monitor is the issue; you can find all the details here: [https://www.asus.com/uk/VS248HR](https://www.asus.com/uk/VS248HR). It’s an ASUS Eye Care monitor with TÜV Rheinland certifications for low blue-light emissions and flicker-free technology, including a menu to adjust the Blue Light Filter settings.

Is there anything I can do to test if the monitor might be causing this problem?

It’s worth checking out: In your NVIDIA Control Panel, go to “Manage 3D Settings,” then “Shader Cache” – make sure that's turned off. Give that a try, restart your computer, and then see if the game runs better. Let me know how it goes!

VS248HR: yep, no frame sync present.
Cap fps to 60.
So you're saying you didn't carry over the C drive after swapping motherboards?
When the user does upgrades, and changes the motherboard, there are older drivers and registry files that Windows is SUPPOSED to flush out on it's own, but it doesn't do so reliably.
That's why it's recommended to do it manually, to rule out the possibility.

I’m planning on doing a fresh Windows install – that sounds good. I want to try a few other things first though. Can we figure out if the monitor is causing this problem without replacing it? I've been limiting my in-game FPS to 60 to match the refresh rate, but I’m still experiencing that stuttering.
