I'm working on an SFF PC and the main headers I need—system panel header and USB 2.0 header—are both JTPM. They’re too small for standard power switch or LED cables, and I’m avoiding powering up the system until I confirm the correct connector size. I’ve learned not to power on the board if the wrong-sized headers are connected to JTPM1, as it could damage the motherboard. There seems to be a question about whether an adapter from a JFP size can fit into a JTPM1 setup or if you can modify the headers by stripping the switch and LED wires to match JTPM1 pins. This would allow proper fitting without risking damage.

For those facing the same challenge, a potential fix exists. An adapter can transform your 2mm pin layout into the standard 2.54mm headers found on motherboards. The available system headers—like power switches, LEDs, and HDD indicators—are noted for compatibility. I also intend to power a 12V fan via a labeled USB connector, using one of the designated 5V pins and a ground pin, operating at 5V. Overall, this approach should succeed since it doesn’t rely on a JTPM header; it’s simply a compact or non-standard header.
