Hey, I need some guidance. I just got my new Air Cooler Deep cool Gammaxx 400 EX. First problem: after removing it from the case, the CPU was still stuck to its heatsink. With a bit of effort, I managed to pull it out—then the CPU came out flying and bent several pins. I fixed it with a tiny needle, and good news, it’s still working. Second issue: after installing the cooler, everything seemed fine until my games started crashing, freezing, and FPS fluctuating wildly. I was able to fix the FPS and freezing, but the crashes kept happening. All my games are now unplayable. Once I resolved the FPS and freezing, I checked CPU and GPU temps using Afterburner. For Elden Ring and GTA 5, CPU temps ranged from 40°C to 55°C, usage around 50-60%, GPU temps 60°C–70°C, usage 60–80%. I’m unsure what else I should share—could you help me figure out next steps? My specs are: Ryzen 5 2600 (planned overclocking), RX 6600 8GB 2x8GB DDR4 3000MHz, 1TB Seagate 7.5TB HDD, 120GB SSD, 550W non-modular PSU (the only one I had during the pandemic), BIOS version AMI 7B89vAD from June 2020, and a new cooler from Cooler Master).

Initially my computer would shut down and restart on its own, yet I managed to resolve the problem. However, when using Photoshop or Clip Studio Paint, it never crashes despite hours of use. It only fails during gameplay for short sessions. Please note my English might be unclear. Edit: A driver crash occurred after updating to the new AMD driver 22.6.1; rolling back to 22.5.1 didn't fix it. I even performed a full uninstall via DDU, but the issue persisted.

Check if I didn’t force the cooler too much, which might have bent the board and led to these problems. Replace the GPU and reinstall the RAM. Update the GPU drivers afterward.

I made sure not to force the cooler too much and even looked for leaks in the thermal paste around the CPU. I replaced the GPU and let fresh air blow through to clear any dust. The RAM was also re-seated, switching the slots from A2/B2 to A1/B1. I ran a DDU on the GPU driver and it worked fine. Still, the game crashes when playing.

Which motherboard and RAM do you use? You should have run memtest to check. Most boards need RAM in specific slots and only support certain speeds there—others limit it. For example, ASROCK B450 slots A2/B2 can reach up to 3200 MHz, while A1/B1 are around 2933 MHz (I don’t remember the exact number).

My Mobo works with MSI B450 Mortar Titanium RAM at 3466MHz (OC), though my RAM maxes around 3000MHz. It uses Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO C15, and I haven’t run MemTest yet.

Revert them to an A2/B2 2 DIMM configuration it requires. Execute MEMTEST if the software is crashing—it’s likely a memory problem, possibly due to a bent CPU pin (try re-seating the CPU) or needing to re-seat the CPU/cooler for better connection. Just some steps I would take.

Sure, I'll keep it simple. I'll let you know when everything is finished.

IIRC there is a software based memtest inside the file for Ryzen DRAM Calculator (download online) that can also test your memory fairly well if you arent comfortable with memtestx86 etc (just food for thought)
