I'm facing a small issue. All Debian-style systems (like Kali, Ubuntu, Debian itself, Pop!_OS, etc.) freeze or crash on my laptop. On the Live USB it happens when opening a browser. On my HDD it also crashes in the same way. I have 20GB of RAM, so memory shouldn't be the problem. Arch-based distros work perfectly fine (Manjaro, Arch). How can I get them to run on a Live USB?

Have you considered turning off Fast Boot? Also, have you tried Linux Mint Cinnamon?

It's a firmware problem. Refer to -- Installing the Latest AMD Drivers on Debian 10 for instructions.

I don't believe fast boot is enabled. Since I don't have a GPU or an AMD CPU, I might need to check further.

The main distinction between Debian-based and Arch Linux versions lies in the drivers date. What if you experiment with the experimental Ubuntu 22.04 release? It appears to stabilize within a few weeks now, check it out here. It should closely resemble Arch-based systems. https://releases.ubuntu.com/22.04/

The reasoning behind this outcome suggests the user tested Ubuntu/Pop-OS builds with recent kernels and enabled amdgpu firmware.

Radeon has firmware problems with Debian — sorry, I didn't fully understand the original post beyond "debian disros." My thoughts don't link what I say to 'Buntu-based distros' versus truly Debian ones like MX, Siduction, AntiX, etc. I'm not going to repeat that. It seems the issue is in both Debian and Ubuntu — the firmware conflict with Radeon models. I've seen similar situations before where hardware needs a firmware update to work. Honestly, Debian can be frustrating sometimes, especially with wireless. I appreciate @TheToastyBoio for pointing that out and clarifying 'Buntu-derived distros.' I'll keep that distinction in mind moving forward. Thanks! And thanks to @10leej for the question!

Maybe the issue lies with the browser. Review the Debian BTS; if it isn't a recognized problem, you can submit a report.
