I attempted to download something on my PC using WiFi, but the connection was extremely slow. A speed test showed only 1 megabit per second. Uploading remained stable at around 20 megabits per second. The same issue occurred with my laptop. My phone and tablet also experienced about 50 megabits per second (which is unusually low). I’m unsure what caused this, as similar speeds have been normal on my other devices. It might be related to a Windows update. Could someone help me figure this out?

Have you checked if restarting both the network and the PC resolved the issue?

WLAN performance can be influenced by multiple factors. Poor overall speed often stems from issues with the router or modem’s physical setup or surrounding environment. Electromagnetic waves are altered by materials they encounter; denser substances absorb more energy. Comparisons using thickness units help assess impact—water (24"), steel (4"), lead (2") are typical values. If your setup has heavy metal components nearby, like a water heater, it may interfere with the signal. For best results, place the device as high as feasible to minimize ground-level interference. If the problem persists, try hardwiring a different device; if that fails, the underlying network infrastructure is likely faulty.

I just tested wired connection and it performs better, about 15mbps. Other devices still run at full speed on Wi-Fi.

It might relate to WLAN versions; your phone could support newer standards such as 5, 6, or 6e. Older devices like PCs may operate on channels that are crowded due to nearby networks. Perhaps your neighbor upgraded their Wi-Fi and it’s interfering with yours. It’s also possible software installed on your computer or laptop is limiting your internet speed. This could come from antivirus tools, malware, gaming programs, or other applications.
