Alert for AMD users using Catalyst Beta drivers
I attempted to execute a 3D Marks API test but encountered difficulties running the DX12 test. I reported this issue to FM, who quickly acknowledged that Catalyst 15.3 didn<|pad|>'s support for WDDM2.0 or DX12. I had to uninstall Catalyst and then reinstall it via Windows Update. Initially impressed by their prompt reply, I decided to give it another shot. Unfortunately, it led to complications. Removing Catalyst caused problems; Windows Update kept failing with an error code, even though drivers appeared fine. I checked my internet speed on Google and discovered it was significantly slower than usual, likely due to Proxy, VPN, or tunneling issues. Further investigation revealed the problem stemmed from unregistered DLLs. Following Microsoft's guidance, I regenerated several DLL files, reset WinHTTP and WinSOCK, and ran a Technet MS FixIT wizard. Still no resolution. I consulted another forum user who shared a similar experience with an older Catalyst Beta, pointing to a registry fix and a description of the issue. I tried multiple solutions—restarting services, checking for updates—but nothing resolved it. Eventually, I spent nearly two hours reinstalling Windows 10 from scratch. Thanks for the heads-up, AMD. Be careful!
Well to be fair you were using beta drivers...sooo no one guaranties they will work or makes you update to beta
Not only Windows, I also needed to obtain the ISO for 10041, copy it to my USB drive, and then install drivers, critical applications, Steam, Origin, and a few more programs. It took around two hours from start to finish. I’m just taking responsibility for myself, but if I can prevent this from happening to someone else with this post, it would be a positive outcome.
